The Philadelphia Eagles are hoping that Saquon Barkley makes a huge impact on the team this season after signing him to a a three-year, $37.75 million deal in free agency.

Since he entered the league in 2018 as the No. 2 overall pick, Barkley has been one of the best running backs in the NFL. Barkley has amassed 5,211 yards and 35 touchdowns in 74 career games, with 288 catches for another 2,100 yards and 12 scores.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recent polling of nearly 80 NFL executives, coaches and scouts of 11 positions around the league ranked the Top 10 running backs entering the 2024 season with Barkley is still among the best running backs heading into the season.

Barkley was ranked as the No. 4 overall running back in the NFL.

"He's going to be a beast," a veteran AFC scout who ranked him second said. "The weapons around him on the outside, dual-threat QB, shotgun runs, his versatility -- it's a perfect fit."

He was ranked by one as high as No. 2 and by another as low as No. 10 overall.

Here is what a NFC offensive coach said about Barkley:

"Probably not as fast as he used to be," an NFL offensive coach said. "He has the ability to make people miss in space, which is sometimes bad since you think you can bounce it and outrun people. But when he does get downhill, running in between tackles, he's so strong naturally that he's hard to tackle. He runs through arm tackles. Just has to decide to do it."
