The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) is combining with the Atlantic City Board of Education to present the "MAAC Gives Back" community outreach program. On November 15th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, the community outreach program will be holding a college sports conference at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School in Atlantic City. Monmouth University's basketball coaches and players will be providing educational goals and incentives to the students.This event is featuring special guest Katie Smith, former WNBA all-star, to emphasize the importance of education in collegiate and professional sports. The "MAAC Gives Back" program will be also announcing a district wide art poster contest during the sports conference!

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), in conjunction with the Atlantic City Board of Education and the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA), is proud to announce the commencement of the “MAAC Gives Back” community outreach program in Atlantic City. This program pairs Atlantic City students with women’s and men’s basketball student-athletes and coaches from the eleven MAAC core member institutions.  The MAAC Basketball Championships, will be played at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City from March 10-14, 2020. The 26th annual “MAAC Gives Back” community outreach program includes curriculum involving reading, writing, statistics, geography, art projects and related subjects. Teachers will integrate this programming into their “Readers Become Leaders” program with the goals of motivating students and stressing the importance of sports, teams, doing well in school, attendance, and good decision-making. Along with the popular “pen pal” program, there is also a MAAC Essay Contest for first-to-fourth grades and fifth-to eighth grades.
