Extra Points: Pleasantville boxer hoping to extend winning streak tonight
Pleasantville welterweight boxer Anthony Young will seek to extend the area's longest current winning streak tonight at Showboat Hotel Atlantic City.
Young (23-2, 8 KOs) will be trying for his 13th straight victory in an eight-round fight against Jose Zaragosa (9-5-1, 3 KOs), of Sedalia, Missouri.
Young, 34, hasn't loss in six years. His last defeat was a fifth-round TKO to Skender Halili on Feb. 2, 2016 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall's Adrian Phillips Ballroom. Inactivity has prevented him from making a major jump in the 147-pound division, however. Tonight's bout will be his first in nearly 11 months, since an eight-round, split decision over Luis Midyeal Sanchez on Dec. 4, 2021 at Showboat.
Zaragosa, 34, is coming off the biggest win of his career. He snapped a two-fight losing streak with a first-round knockout over Ricardo Valdovinos (8-2, 5 KOs) in San Diego on Aug. 27.
Six other bouts are on the card, which is being promoted by Cherry Hill-based R&B Promotions. Tickets are priced from $55 to $175 and are available on randbpromo.ticketleap.com and at the door. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the first fight scheduled for 7 p.m.
