973ESPN.com columnist Dave Weinberg earned two awards in the Boxing Writer's Association of America's national writing contest, the organization announced Sunday evening.

Weinberg, 64, earned honorable mention in Event Coverage for his story about the passing of local boxing trainer Vincent Jackson. He also won honorable mention in Features Under 1,500 words for a story on the glory days of boxing for Atlantic City's Trump Plaza.

This marks the 15th time in the last 20 years Weinberg has received at least one award in the organization's annual writing contest known as The Bernie's.
Weinberg, who started writing his Extra Points column on 973ESPN.com in 2020, will be honored with the other winners at the BWAA's annual convention later this year.
