Flyers Acquire Trevor Zegras from Anaheim for Poehling, Picks

June 23 has historically been a busy day in Flyers history. For Danny Briere and the 2025 Philadelphia Flyers, it once again is.

The Flyers acquired forward Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Ryan Poehling, the 45th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, and a 2026 fourth-round pick.

Zegras, 24, burst onto the NHL scene as a 19-year-old in the 2020-21 season. He scored three goals and 13 points in 24 games. In his first full NHL season in 2021-22, he scored 23 goals and 61 points in 75 games. The following season, he played in 81 games and had 23 goals and 65 points.

Since then, injuries have plagued Zegras. He played in just 31 games in the 2023-24 season, scoring six goals and 15 points. In the 2024-25 season, Zegreas had 12 goals and 32 points in 57 games.

The 6’0”, 185-pound forward has played some center in his career, but has largely been a winger at the NHL level.

Poehling, 26, just completed his second season with the Flyers. His first season in Philadelphia in 2023-24 saw career numbers, 11 goals and 28 points in 77 games. This season, Poehling topped that with 12 goals and 31 points in 68 games.

Poehling had one year remaining on his contract with a $1.9 million cap hit. Zegras also has one year remaining on his contract with a $5.75 million cap hit and is an RFA after the 2025-26 season.
