Flyers and Sixers Make Offseason Moves While Phillies Persevere
The Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers are making more moves than relaxing and "run it back". The Flyers Brass welcomed 2023 first-round pick Matevi Michkov last week after he was released from his Russian Team Contract. To pair with the excitement of Mishkov "Coming to America", the Flyers resigned fan favorite Garnet Hathaway and potential future star Forward Bobby Brink.
The Flyers 2024 first-round draft pick Jett Luchanko arrived in Voorhees this week to participate in the Flyers Development Camp that runs July 2nd through July 6. Flyers General Manager Danny Briere will check in with The Locker Room with Billy Schweim on Saturday morning at 1030 am to talk about the retool of the roster this offseason.
The Philadelphia 76ers are just as busy this offseason. President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey just locked up three big Free agents last week, the biggest one, Paul George to a four-year deal worth $212 million. Andre Drummond returns to the Sixers to back up Joel Embiid to a two-year contract worth $10 million and Guard Eric Gorden to a one-year veteran minimum contract.
The Phillies are still nine games ahead of the Braves in the National League East as they head to Atlanta for a three-game series this weekend. It was announced Wednesday that the Phillies had three starters voted into this year’s All-star game: First Baseman Bryce Harper, Shortstop Trea Turner, and Third Baseman Alec Bohm. We will talk about it all this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.
On Saturday’s show, Producer Nick Earnshaw along with Mike Carlin join me in the studio to discuss all the Flyers, Sixers, and Phillies news. In Hour One, we will hear from Flyers GM Danny Briere about the 2024-25 Flyers offseason. In Hour Two, it’s the Beach Patrol Report with former Lt. of the Ocean City Beach Patrol John McShane.
The Beach Patrol Report each week is brought to you by McCann Realtors of Sea Isle City and the Ocean City Beach Patrol Lifeguard Alumni Association. This week we will talk with the Chief of the Margate City Beach Patrol Chris Graves. Plus we will be giving away two $25 gift certificates to Capt’n Chucky’s by answering our textboard trivia questions, so make you tune in for your chance to win!
On Sunday’s show, my Locker Room Youth Movement returns to the studio: Producer Danny Ryan and "The Intern” Andrew Leeds join me to talk all things Philadelphia Sports. Every Sunday throughout the baseball season we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies Pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by Blitz’s Market in Ocean City NJ. Tommy reviews the Phillies week and previews Sunday’s game in Atlanta.
Flyers, Sixers, Phillies talk and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, heard every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 97.3 FM ESPN Radio South Jersey.
