
Flyers-Jets Preview: Trade Deadline Eve
When the opening face-off takes place on Thursday night between the Flyers and Winnipeg Jets, the trade deadline will be just 20 hours away. It remains to be seen if this will be the final game in Orange and Black for any players currently on the roster.
As for the game, the Flyers are looking to rebound from the 6-3 loss to Calgary that followed the 2-1 shootout win over the Jets last Saturday.
Game time is 7 p.m.
Noah Cates is on a four-game points streak entering Thursday's game. He had an assist against Winnipeg last Saturday, the only game on the streak where he did not score a goal. His goal in Tuesday's game against Calgary was his 14th of the season, setting a new career high.
Mark Scheifele continues his strong season with 34 goals and 34 assists. He has points in 10 of his last 12 games, including the lone goal against the Flyers last Saturday.
Sam Ersson gets the start for the Flyers. Ersson exited Tuesday's game after allowing three goals on five shots. Ersson has allowed eight goals in his last two starts after allowing 11 goals in the previous five starts prior. In two career starts against Winnipeg, Ersson is 2-0-0 with a 0.50 GAA and .984 save percentage, including one shutout.
Eric Comrie gets the start for the Jets. Comrie made 29 saves on 31 shots in a loss to Nashville in his last start on Feb. 27. The loss snapped a personal three-game winning streak.
