Flyers Look to Have a Four Goalie Tandem
The Flyers look to be heading in the direction of who will be the starting goalie of the regular season with Samuel Ersson as the number one and Fedotov in the backup spot. Now what about Kolosov?
The Flyers are in the presence of a 22-year-old goalie prospect who did not attend rookie camp and missed time of main camp.
Alexei Kolosov the 2021 third-round pick from Belarus played on a loan in the KHL which is Russia’s top pro league with his hockey club Dinamo Minsk.
Kolosov who hit the ice for the Flyers this past Monday was able to put up an impressive stat line with one goal against, eight shots against, and seven saves against the Islanders. He finished the game with a .875 save percentage.
The uncertainty brews within the organization on how this situation will play out. The addition of Kolosov now adds a four goalie tandem with him, Errson, Fedotov, and Petersen.
The organization plans to have Kolosov start his orange and black season down with their AHL affiliate in Lehigh Valley. In hopes of Alexei starting the season off on a good note giving him the future opportunity to play in the NHL battling for that second spot behind Errson.
Unfortunately, it looks like Flyers fans will have to wait and see what the team’s plans are but can expect to have an exciting 2024-2025 season on the horizon as the hopes are making the playoffs after just missing it last season.
The next game will be Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 7p.m. against the New Jersey Devils.
