In the final game of 2024, the Flyers got a little bit of everything. There was depth scoring, strong goaltending, a power-play goal, and it was all capped off with a combined shutout.

The result was a 4-0 victory for the Flyers against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night.

The Flyers opened the scoring at 5:59. Nick Seeler fired a shot from an angle that banked in off of Alexandar Georgiev to make it 1-0 on his third goal of the season.

The Flyers appeared to make it 2-0 on the power play at 13:53, as Owen Tippett set up Morgan Frost for a tip-in. But San Jose challenged for offside and the goal was disallowed after review.

Through 20 minutes, shots were 10-7 Flyers.

The Flyers held the one-goal lead through the first half of the second period. Then two quick goals helped break the game open.

A point shot by Egor Zamula left a big rebound for Ryan Poehling, who buried it on the backhand for his third goal of the season at 12:09. Less than two minutes later on a power play, Tippett set up Travis Konecny for a one-timer that did count, making it 3-0 Flyers at 13:44.

Through two periods, shots were 20-15 Flyers.

At the start of the third, Sam Ersson exited the game and Aleksei Kolosov took over. Ersson made 15 saves in the first two periods.

Just 2:30 into the third, the Flyers extended the lead again. Zamula centered a pass and got a bounce, beating Georgiev for his third of the season to make it 4-0.

That was all the offense needed, as Kolosov made seven saves in the third to complete the combined shutout. Georgiev made 30 saves on 34 shots in the loss.

Zamula, Bobby Brink, and Jamie Drysdale each finished with two points.

The Flyers are back on the ice on Thursday night to open play in 2025, facing off against the Vegas Golden Knights at 10 p.m.
