The Flyers are sending defenseman Andrej Meszaros to the Bruins in exchange for a third round pick. Meszaros is due to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and it was becoming less likely that he would resign.

The deal came down thirty minutes before the 3 p.m. deadline and will free up $6.4 million in cap space.

The Flyers were already with 9 defenseman on their roster after the addition of Andrew MacDonald in a trade yesterday with the Islanders.

Meszaros, 28, was a healthy scratch 24 times this season and has battled injuries throughout his Flyers tenure.

The third round selection acquired from Boston is for the 2014 NHL Draft and figures to be one of the last in the round.
