PHILADELPHIA (973espn.com) - Nick Foles' poor performance at practice on Friday now has an explanation.

According to Philadelphia radio personality Howard Eskin, the veteran backup quarterback is dealing with elbow inflammation that will keep him out of practice for a few days.

In Foles' absence, Matt McGloin will handle work with the second-team and undrafted rookie Dane Evans will also get a few more reps.

Foles returned to the Eagles in the offseason to be Carson Wentz's backup. He was noticeably off at Friday's session, badly underthrowing an open Shelton Gibson on a deep throw and following that with an interception to Aaron Grymes, which likely would have been a pick six in a game environment.

The Eagles are scheduled to return to the practice field on Saturday afternoon at the NovaCare Complex after pushing the first open practice at Lincoln Financial Field back a day due to weather concerns.
