South Jersey’s charm is undeniable, and now four towns have been officially recognized among the prettiest in New Jersey for 2025 by the outlet World Atlas.

It should come as no surprise that towns from the Southern part of the state made a list. The question I would have is, how come more towns from down south didn't appear on the list?

Which South Jersey towns were named among some of the prettiest in the state?

  • Cape May (Cape May County)
  • Avalon (Cape May County)
  • Ocean City (Cape May County)
  • Bordentown (Burlington County)

Three Cape May County towns made the list, with one in Burlington County. While these towns all belong on the list, Stone Harbor, Longport, Brigantine, Wildwood Crest, LBI, and many other South Jersey towns could be considered.

What Makes Cape May Stand Out?

The entire town has been designated as the Cape May Historic District, featuring more than 600 well-maintained Late Victorian-style buildings spread over an area of 380 acres

Why Avalon Continues to Attract Visitors

Filled with charming homes and beach cottages, this peaceful beachfront community offers plenty of water-based recreational activities. Thousands of tourists visit Avalon in the summer for an exciting vacation, exploring the beautiful white-sand beaches, quaint shops, excellent seafood restaurants, and lively nightclubs.

Ocean City’s Iconic Boardwalk and Beaches

Named after its location along the Atlantic Ocean, Ocean City offers vacationers miles of clean beaches, a 2.45-mile-long boardwalk, and a downtown shopping and mining district.

Bordentown’s Historic and Cultural Charm

Visitors can tour historic sites such as the Crosswicks Creek Site III and Point Breeze, and enjoy numerous art galleries, antique shops, bookstores, record stores, breweries, and restaurants downtown.
