Furkan Korkmaz has strong debut for 87ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have made good use of their G-League affiliate over the last year or so, sending players to rehab while also developing young talent with NBA potential. This season, the Delaware 87ers (0-2) have a few names to watch, most notably Furkan Korkmaz. Selected late the the first round of the 2016 draft, Korkmaz got a taste of NBA action in the preseason before joining the Sixers for their first stretch of games on the bench.

Over the weekend, the Sixers assigned the Turkish guard to the Sevens, where he'll likely spend a majority of his season. Delaware couldn't hold on to a big lead, falling by a final score of 113-110, but Korkmaz had a successful debut, nearing a triple-double. Korkmaz finished with 17 points (6-16 fg, 0-5 3pt fg), nine rebounds and seven assists in 36 minutes of action. Here's a look at the highlights from his debut...

Sixers' two-way player Jacob Pullen led the Sevens with 24 points (10-17 fg, 3-7 3pt fg), five assists and three rebounds. Their other two-way guy, James Michael McAdoo, finished with 15 points (6-14 fg, 0-3 3pt fg) and six rebounds. Meanwhile, 35-year-old Emeka Okafor played 25 minutes for Delaware, scoring eight points to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Sevens are back in action on Tuesday night at home as they look to earn their first win of the season against the Westchester Knicks. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from the Bob Carpenter Center on the campus of the University of Delaware.
