NJ Beachgoers, Is This Big Group Trend Annoying You Too?
Now, I've never been shy about sharing things that annoy me at the beach, like when some kids decided to play football over the beach chair I was sitting in. It was super annoying, and I felt like an old geezer getting mad, but it happens.
A New Beach Pet Peeve That I Didn't Know Existed Until Yesterday
Yesterday, my wife and I were sitting on Ortley Beach and noticed something that really annoyed us, and I'm curious if it's just us or if this annoys you too when you see it on the beach.
Large Circles Of People Were Taking Up A Crazy Amount Of Beach

Everywhere we looked, people were grouped in large 15-20 person circles that took up maybe 500 to 600 square feet of beach. They were super spread out; they had tents along the outside of the circle and took up so much space on the beach that it felt super crowded, despite the fact that it wasn't a packed beach day.
Is Forming A Massive Circle A New Thing At The Jersey Shore?
Now, there's a chance that I'm just looking for things to get annoyed with, but I don't remember seeing this nearly as much in summers past. Even growing up in Sea Isle City, our whole family was 15 people or more back in the day, and we never took up this much space.
And look, if you're a small group of 4 or 5 people, and you're sitting in a tight-knit circle so you can converse and talk, that's great. But what really got me going is that these large circles of beach chairs and people took up a crazy amount of beach, and no one was even talking to one another. They could have just set up in a few lines, like most people do, allowing more space for other people on the beach.
Am I The Only One Who Gets Annoyed With Large Circles Of People On The Beach?
So, am I just an old man yelling at you to get off his front yard? Or is this something that annoys the heck out of you too? Drop a comment and let me know!
