South Jersey’s Best Diners Revealed
It's about as New Jersey as anything there is - the diner.
New Jersey has more diners than another state. Wikipedia says there are 525 diners in the Garden State.
For our purposes, we're focusing on eastern South Jersey - the area that includes Atlantic, Cape May Cumberland, and Southern Ocean County.
These are my personal favorite choices. (I haven't been to every diner in South Jersey, so I can't call them the best if I've never been there.)
Favorite South Jersey Diners
What makes a good diner? It's good food, good atmosphere, and good people!
Here's my list, in no particular order:
Maurice River Diner - Come for the food, stay for the cheesecake! It's really one of the biggest diners around. Tables are spread out, it doesn't feel like your eating in a crowded space.
Shore Diner - A classic diner in every sense of the world. My very first visit to this Egg Harbor Township institution in 1998 - I ordered the Spanish Omelet. The waitress brought me a Spinach Omelet. I was afraid to say anything, and it turned out to be pretty good!
Harbor Diner - A very homey feel to this Egg Harbor City mainstay. Never had a bad meal.
Galloway Casual Dining - A weird name for a diner, but this Pomona eatery is good! I recommend the Cuban Panini!
Silver Coin Diner - The gem of Hammonton! Their cherry cheesecake is the best I've ever had.
The Point Diner - A classic in Somers Point. The circle is long gone, but the old-time diner lives on!
Dino's Seaville Diner - I'm not usually a pancake person, but some of the best pancakes I've had were at Dino's. Everyone knows everyone - it's the Cheers of diners!
Dockside Cafe - This favorite in Tuckerton might not be a diner by name, but it is in spirit. Good food and a good view!
These are some of my favorites. Let me know yours in the comments section!
