Firefighters in Ocean City fought a blaze on the 1400 block of Simpson Avenue on Monday afternoon.

Firefighters in Ocean City responded to a call about a house fire in the 1400 block of Simpson Ave at 4:51 pm Monday.

When they arrived, flames were shooting out of the entire second floor of the wood-frame home and black smoke was billowing high into the sky above Ocean City.

Ocean City Firefighters Called in Help From Other Fire Companies

Ocean City fire crews called for help with the blaze from the Margate Fire Department and the Marmora Volunteer Fire Company.

The neighboring fire companies assisted with mutual aid and RIT -- rapid intervention team assistance, a stand-by rescue team for personnel, and being available for the immediate search and rescue of any missing, trapped, injured, or unaccounted-for firefighters.

Firefighters quickly worked to stop the spread of the fire to other homes on the block.

The Fire Was Under Control in 30 Minutes

The fire was placed under control at 5:26 pm according to firefighters, who said that one firefighter suffered a minor injury.

The fire displaced three people in the home but they were not injured.

The blaze is under investigation by the Ocean City Fire Department Investigation Unit, Ocean City Police Department, and the New Jersey State Fire Marshal’s Office.
