EFFECTIVE ATLANTIC CITY POLICE SPECIALIZED UNIT WAS KEY

The latest example involves the Atlantic City Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit … whose effective efforts has led to the arrest of a shooting suspect in Brooklyn, New York.

ATLANTIC CITY POLICE SAY …

The Atlantic City Police Department has released the following information about this case:

On May 3, 2025 at 2:11 PM, patrol officers responded to the 1500 block of Baltic Avenue for a report of man shot. The victim, 52, of Atlantic City, was transported by an associate to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, to be treated for a non-life-threatening injury before officers arrived, said the Atlantic City Police Department.

The Atlantic City Police Department has not yet released the identity of the shooting victim.

THEY KNEW EACH OTHER

During the investigation, law enforcement learned that the victim and (the alleged shooter) Edwin Biggs, knew each other and had a verbal disagreement.

It is alleged that things escalated and Biggs then shot the victim and then fled to New York.

A collaboration of the New York Police Department and United States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force-Atlantic City Division cooperatively arrested Biggs in Brooklyn, New York on May 6, 2025.

ARRESTED:

Edwin Biggs, 51, of Brooklyn, New York.

CHARGES:

  • Attempted homicide.
  • unlawful possession of a weapon.
  • possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • aggravated assault (three counts).
  • certain person not to possess a weapon.

Biggs is currently being trod at a New York correctional facility and he will be extradited to Atlantic City.
