Vineland, N.J. — A police officer in Cumberland County has been charged with accessing law enforcement computer systems without authorization to look up information on three people.

34-year-old Timothy Ball, a patrol officer with the Vineland Police Department, faces four counts of computer criminal activity.

The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office said that between March 2025 and February 2026, Ball used both the department's internal computer system and the Criminal Justice Information System without authorization or in excess of his authorized access to research information on three people.

The prosecutor's office did not identify the three people in a press release.

Internal Investigation Led to Charges

The misconduct was initially uncovered through a Vineland PD internal investigation and immediately referred to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office Professional Standards Unit for further investigation.

Ball is scheduled to appear in court for Central Judicial Processing on September 10th.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Patrice Sherry with the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office at (856) 453-0486.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
