The addition of James Van Riemsdyk by the Flyers in NHL Free Agency gives Philadelphia another offense weapon to add to a team that scored 249 Goals last season, which had them ranked as the 13th Best offense in the NHL in 2017-18.  Van Riemsdyk, who scored 36 Goals for Toronto last season, is expected to be a good fit with the team's second line paired along with Nolan Patrick and Jake Voracek.  JVR was selected Second Overall in the 2007 NHL Draft by the Flyers and his family lives in northern New Jersey.

The Flyers new Forward James Van Riemsdyk joined The Sports Bash on Tuesday and spoke about why he choose to return to Philadelphia in Free Agency:

"I was lucky to play with a lot of great players in Toronto which was great, but again looking at the players that are in Philadelphia, I’m going to get a chance to play with some great players there too and hopefully get a chance to play a little bit bigger role - There's a lot of great pieces in place so I’m excited to join that and be a part of all that....One of the things that was definitely intriguing about Philadelphia was all the good, young talent they have now, and all of the talent they have coming. You can name guys at every position - The young players on the team that have taken some big steps and will continue to get better and better. So to join something like that was a pretty exciting opportunity for me."
