Phillies' pitcher Jeff Hoffman has his Shore plans ruined

The Jersey Shore will have one less visitor next week.

The Philadelphia Phillies have a record seven players going to the Major League Baseball All-Star game in Texas next week, one of them, Jeff Hoffman had to cancel his plans to come down the Jersey Shore to attend the festivities.

"What were your All-Star plans?", Hoffman was asked after he found out he was selected to represent the National League team in Texas.

"We were going to the shore for a couple of days," Hoffman said with a huge smile across his face. "But this is way better," he added with a laugh.

Hoffman has been outstanding for the Phillies’ bullpen this season, posting a 1.21 ERA, 0.88 WHIP with 32 strikeouts over 37.1 innings of work, notching eight saves this season.

Its been an unlikely story for Hoffman, who has bounced around with four different organizations, before landing in Philadelphia.

Hoffman was drafted by Toronto, then traded to Colorado, where after posted a a 6.40 ERA in five seasons in Denver, he was shipped to the Reds, who designated him for assignment in 2022. The Twins picked him up, but he was able to opt-out of his contract and the Phillies picked him up.

Now in Philadelphia, after a solid 2023 season, Hoffman is a 2024 All-Star.

Hoffman joins Matt Straham, Zack Wheeler and Ranger Suarez as Phillies pitchers heading to the Mid-Summer Classic. Bryce Harper, Trea Turner and Alec Bohm were also selected to represent the Phillies at the game.
