What a beginning to the NHL and NBA playoffs!!  Who would’ve thought that the Flyers would be up three games to none against the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Sixers would be tied one game a piece against the Celtics heading into Game three on Friday Night.

That’s where we are in the first round of both playoffs! The Flyers have played well in the first three games and can sweep the hated Crosby-led Penguins on Saturday night at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.  That’s no embellishment!! The Sixers were crushed by the Celtics in game one last Sunday by 32 points, only to come back on Tuesday night to beat the Celtics 111-97.  Sixers rookie V.J. Edgecombe led the way with 30 points, and Tyrese Maxey hit two big three point shots down the stretch to solidify a resilient comeback.

The NFL draft is underway, and the Eagles raised some eyebrows by moving up three spots, and drafting wide receiver Makai Lemon from USC.  I hope his last name isn’t an omen, but one thing is obvious: the Eagles disgruntled wide receiver AJ Brown isn’t going to be with the team next year. W e will know more after June 1st when it is more economical to trade him.  The Eagles have three picks on day two of the NFL draft: Picks 54, 68, and 98.

The Phillies have dropped another game in Chicago, which makes it nine losses in a row. Since the Mets finally won a game this week, the Phillies own the longest losing streak in major league baseball.

We will cover it all this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.

On Saturday’s show, Producer Nick Earnshaw, former Kansas City wide receiver Dave Klemic, and my intern Erin Ewing will join me in the studio.  We will preview the Flyers vs. Penguins game four, and we will hear from Bill Meltzer.  Bill covers the Flyers for Flyers.nhl.com and is the Flyers Alumni content manager. Dave Klenic is back and will dissect the Eagles draft. In Hour Two, we will recap the Sixers-Celtics game three Friday night action. Finally, we’ll get our “High School Athletes in the Spotlight” with Fran Mclaughlin brought to you by the Philly Pretzel Factory of EHT.

On Sunday’s show, Producer Alex Berardis and my intern Erin Ewing join me in the studio.  Hopefully, we will be celebrating a Flyers sweep! If so, I will reach out to Flyers Head coach Rick Tocchet. The Phillies head to Atlanta to face the Braves. Let’s hope the Phillies can end their losing streak. We will go “On the Mound” with former Phillies pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by Blitz’s market in Ocean City. Tommy talks Phillies baseball and previews Sunday’s action. In Hour Two, Mr. Negadelphia P.J. Corda checks in with his thoughts on the Philly sports scene brought to you by the Vassar Pool service.

Sixers, Flyers, Phillies, and Eagles talk this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 97.3 FM ESPN radio South Jersey.
