The Holy Spirit Spartans (12-4) are one of the top teams in the Cape Atlantic League and they showed why when they hosted the Mainland Mustangs (8-8) in an American Conference game in Absecon on Tuesday night.

The Spartans ran away with an easy 56-35 win with Tyler Jones leading the way with 15 points, John Middleton had 11.

Mainland was trying to impress the committee to make the eight-team CAL playoff field but was never in the game, trialing pretty much from the outset.

"Overall I am pretty happy with our performance," Spartans head coach Jamie Gillespie said after the game.

Meanwhile, Mustangs coach Dan Williams was left searching for answers.  "I need to find kids who can and want to compete," he stated at halftime of the game on 97.3 ESPN's broadcast.
