The 19-year old pitcher was the No. 26 overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins, but was traded during the offseason to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for pitchers Sonny Gray and Francis Peguero.

The Somers Point native tossed four innings, giving up four hits, and one-run, striking out three during his debut with the Reds organization.

Despite allowing just one-run, Petty was saddled with the loss.

This is Petty's debut at the full-season level after pitching rookie ball in two games in 2021. He is ranked as the seventh best prospect in the Reds organization.
