Mainland Regional alum Chase Petty is moving on up to Double-A.

Petty will be heading to Chattanooga to pitch for Lookouts, the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.

He has excelled at Single-A Dayton this season with a 1.95 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 60 innings pitched.

Petty is one of the top prospects in the Cincinnati Reds system, ranking No. 7 overall.

He was originally the 26th overall pick in the 2021 Major League Baseball draft by the Minnesota Twins. The Twins traded Petty to Cincinnati in exchange for Sonny Gray and Francis Peguero prior to last season.

Petty excelled at Mainland as a senior, being named the New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year, going 6–1 win–loss record with a 1.00 ERA with 99 strikeouts in 48.2 innings pitched.
