For the second straight season, the Philadelphia Phillies made the postseason as a NL Wild Card team, finishing 14 games behind the Atlanta Braves in the process both times.

In 2022 made it to the World Series, falling to the Houston Astors, and in 2023, they were upset in the NLCS against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Will this be the season they finally get crowned World Series champions?

Let's take a look at which teams have the best odds coming into the 2024 campaign to bring home the Commissioner’s Trophy as World Series champions!

Here are the latest odds at the Sportsbooks in New Jersey as per NJ bet, as of late Nov. 2024, for all 30 teams to win the World Series

  • Los Angeles Dodgers: +750
  • Houston Astros: +900
  • Texas Rangers: +900
  • Philadelphia Phillies: +1100
  • Baltimore Orioles: +1500
  • New York Yankees: +1500
  • Toronto Blue Jays: +1700
  • San Diego Padres: +1800
  • Tampa Bay Rays: +1900

So only four teams in baseball have shorter odds to win the World Series than the Phillies do, their two NL rivals, the Braves and Dodgers, plus two AL teams, the Astros and the 2023 champions, the Rangers.

While the hot stove hasn’t really started to heat up just yet, with the Phillies bringing back Aaron Nola the only significant move so far, they seem like a safe bet to remain in the World Series conversation.

You have to think the Braves and Dodgers are going to be at the top of their divisions again in the National League.  However, Milwaukee seems like they are ready to take a step back, will the Diamondbacks be back after their surprise run to the World Series, how about the Marlins, who made a surprise run to the Wild Card round this season in the National League?

I think the Cubs (+2800) offer good value at this stage of the offseason, after such a disappointing end to 2023.

In the American League, I just do not understand why the Yankees (+1500) continue to get such good odds with top NJ betting apps to start the season, other than the fact they are a national team with big money bettors behind them.

Both Toronto (+1700) and Tampa (+1900) offer just as good value in the AL East, and the defending East champs, Baltimore (+1500) are a great play. All three of the East teams, not named New York should be getting more love, and of course, Houston and Texas. One team that I think could make a big jump is Seattle, and you can get very good odds on the Mariners (+2000).  They could be one of the favorites to land free agent Shohei Ohtani, and if that happens, those odds will shrink.
