New Game at Battle at Beach Features Atlantic City, NJ vs Mainland
The Battle at the Beach Football Classic continues to evolve for the 2024 season.
The event, which will be played Labor Day weekend on Thursday at Ocean City High School and Egg Harbor Township High School on Friday and Saturday, has made some tweaks to the schedule.
One of the changes involves two local teams, Mainland and Atlantic City, who will now face off at noon on Thursday at Ocean City High School. Mainland is the defending State Champions, while Atlantic City returns one of the top weapons in the state, wide receiver Sah'nye Degraffenreidt. The two teams met in 2023 with the Mustangs rolling to a 47-18 win over the Vikings.
However, both teams will have a different look in 2024 as Stephen Ordille finished with 25 carries for 267 yards and five TDs in the game, but has graduated for Mainland.
Mainland was originally slated to play Camden in the game.
Another game was added to the slate on Tuesday, Cedar Creek will now play Eastside (Camden) in a game that has featured plenty of excitement in recent seasons. The two teams meet in 2023 with Eastside winning 26-8.
The Thursday slate of game will be played at Ocean City High School on Aug 28 with games moving over to Egg Harbor Twp. on Friday and Saturday.
The Friday schedule for EHT has been set and features a local game between Millville and Holy Spirit on Friday night at 7:30.
