This New Jersey beach was just named one of the worlds best sunset spots
The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and one simple activity you can do to help improve your psychological and emotional well-being is to watch a sunset.
Yes, studies show that watching Sunsets have benefits such as more positive feelings and social behaviors, along with being more in tuned with gratitude and seeing the good in our lives. "Staying Present in the Moment" while watching a sunset can function as a mental rest, and the colors have a positive impact on the brain (unlike the constant blue light exposure we have from our Laptops, Smartphones, and TV screens).
Researchers have ranked the best places in the World and US to watch the sun set, and one New Jersey spot made the list.
After gathering a list of the best sunset locations from four popular travel notifications, the Casino.ca research team created a ranking of the 70 best sunset locations in the world based on the following criteria:
*Weather and Visibility
*Google Reviews
*Social Media Popularity
*Viewing Conditions
Located in South Jersey is the only NJ location to make both the Best North American and World Sunset Locations. Just over mile north of the Cape May Point Lighthouse is the popular Sunset Beach on the coastline of the Delaware Bay.
Originally known as "Sunset Point" before the area's name was changed to "Sunset Beach" in the 1960s, the area is famous for the wreckage of the SS Atlantus, one of 12 Concrete Ships built during World War One. Over 100 years later, Sunset Beach has become a popular attraction for beachgoers, and families with a mini-golf course along with other attractions.
The Casino.ca research team gave Sunset Beach a 96.3% positive sunset rating, a major reason why it is the 7th Best Sunset Location in North America, and ranked as the 17th Best in the World.
So the next time you are looking for that iconic location to enjoy a sunset, take a drive down to one of the United States' oldest beach destinations, navigate through Cape May to the long stretch of road that will land you on the bay at Sunset Beach.
