
These New Jersey Fire Districts Are Hosting Special Elections On President’s Day Weekend
Most people associate November with the time of year for voters to have a say in what is happening in their local community. From Candidate Elections to Ballot Questions, it is an American Tradition to visit the local polling locations each November.
But in New Jersey, many municipalities hold Special Elections at different times of the calendar year. For example in South Jersey, two communities held Special Elections for School Budget Tax Votes in September last year while other towns hold Municipal Elections in May.
The latest opportunity for local voters to make their voices heard with how their tax dollars are being spent is happening during an odd time of year. In fact, some of you reading this article could be out of town when your community holds its next election.
14 South Jersey Fire District Elections Just Days Away
In New Jersey's Southernmost County, all four townships will be hosting Fire District Elections during President's Day Weekend.
Yes, in Cape May County there are elections hosted at each district's firehouse on Saturday, February 15th. Voters are invited to have their voices heard on subjects such as:
-Annual Fire Department budgets
-Tax Levies
-Fire Commissioners
-Expenditures for Fire Equipment
A couple of the ballot questions up for voters to decide on Saturday, February 15th include approval of the purchase of a new fire truck for the Middle Township Fire District #4 in Goshen (f $1.2 million). Also, Lower Township Fire District #2 in Town Bank needs approval to purchase a new fire truck and equipment (up to $1 Million).
