Following last seasons run to the Super Bowl, the Eagles lost both of their coordinators to head coaching gigs with Shane Steichen heading to Indianapolis and Jonathan Gannon in Arizona with the Cardinals.

A discussion on Wednesday morning on NFL Network, insider Ian Rapoport suggested a name to keep an eye on is new Eagles coordinator Sean Desai.

"You're probably going to hear a little bit about Sean Desai," Rapoport stated. He is one of the bright young minds in the NFL. With not a lot of depth in the secondary, due to injuries, he is making this thing happen.  They have one of the best defense there, with one of the best defensive lines and front-sevens in the NFL.

"I don't know how much buzz this name is getting, but we probably should talk more about him. Eagles are going to be really good, they are going to run the ball, and they are going to play defense. They are a really good team and he is one of the reasons why."

So far Desai's defense ranks seventh overall and No. 1 overall against the run, giving up just 48 rushing yards per game, and just three yards per carry.

The defensive line has been led by rookie Jalen Carter, who has 156 quarterback pressures, second among NFL defensive tackles. Jordan Davis and Fletcher Cox have gotten off to very good starts and the team has been able to overcome multiple injuries to players in the secondary.

Desai became Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator during the offseason, replacing Jonathan Gammon after he left to become Arizona’s head coach.
