While Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni didn't say Jalen Hurts would not be available for Sunday's NFC Championship game tilt with NFC East rival, Washington, the thought of who the next man up was discussed.

Sirianni suggested that he hopes Hurts will be ready to go Sunday, it wasn't a guarantee he will be ready.

"I know those guys will do everything they can do to be at their top part of their game on Sunday," Sirianni offered when asked a out Hurts and rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell.

I'm confident in our training staff. I’m confident in those guys. We'll see how that goes as the week goes on," Sirianni continued.

But what if Hurts can't go, or can't make it through the entire game, then who?

Former Steelers first-round pick Kenny Pickett was the backup Sunday and Sirianni sounded like that will not change this Sunday.

"The entire year, Kenny was our backup, Sirianni stated on Monday. When he played, I thought he did a really nice job and put us in positions to win games. When Tanner played, he did a really nice job and put us in positions to win games."

It is fair to look at both Pickett and McKee and wonder who gives the team the best opportunity to win if Hurts can't finish the game. Hurts was knocked out of the second meeting with Washington due to a concussion and Pickett took over in that game, going 14-24 for 143 yards with a touchdown and a interception. He added three rushes for 13 yards in the loss.

As for McKee, who raised some eyebrows in his lone start of the season, a Week 18 win over the Giants, going 27-41 for 269 yards and two scores.

The eye test suggested that McKee was more effective and efficient.

So would be called on if Hurts wasn't ready or unable to finish?

"As far as the backup quarterback goes, Kenny played really well when he was in, and Tanner played really well when he was in. Makes you have tough decisions, and that's a good thing to have.

We have three guys that we're so excited to have on this roster."

Sounds like Pickett would be the guy, but Sirianni seemed to leave the door open to make a decision this week.
