The St. Augustine Prep football team kept rolling, making a statement that they aren’t losing focus with the playoffs on the way.  The Hermits dominate Vineland 48-0 keeping the top spot in our weekly list of the Cape-Atlantic League version of the Fine 5 – a list of the five best teams in the CAL.  St. Joe's stayed hot, scoring 47 points this week, Cedar Creek posted 49 points, while Buena got by with just 14 points.  Bridgeton earned it's 500th career win with a wild win over Oakcrest. 

We’ll post some of the top performances and teams and give you games to watch moving forward each week – so here is this week’s ‘CAL Fine 5′.

1. St. Augustine Prep Hermits (8-0) – Last week No. 1:  The Hermits clinched the Cape-Atlantic League American Conference with a dominating 48-0 win over Vineland. Kyle Dobbins ran for 113 yards and three touchdowns and quarterback Jose Tabora passed for 231 yards and three touchdowns for the Hermits.  Dobbins now has 1,293 yards and 18 touchdowns on the season. The Hermits lead the CAL in both scoring 42.3 points per game and give up just 6.9 points per game.  Next: NJSIAA Playoffs  

2. St. Joseph Wildcats (6-2) – Last week No. 2: The Wildcats dominated EHT out 47-13 on Saturday with Salaam and A’Laam Horne combining leading the way again. Salaam threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, his brother A’Laam had two rushing. St. Joe's features the second best offense in the CAL, scoring 34 points per game. Next: at Ocean City (2-5)

3. Cedar Creek Pirates (6-1) – Last week No. 3: The Pirates kept rolling with an easy 49-6 win over Middle Twp. Bo Melton had 129 receiving yards and 38 rushing yards, and scored four touchdowns, including three on passes from quarterback Jesse Milza. The Cedar Creek defense is the second ranked unit in the CAL giving up just 7.4 points per game, they are third in the CAL scoring 33 per contest.  Next: at Pleasantville (0-7)

4. Buena Chiefs (7-1) – Last week No. 4: The Chiefs held on to defeated Caravel Academy of Delaware 14-6 as freshman Sean Rice and quarterback Tyler Rainear each scored touchdowns in the first quarter.  The Chiefs were again missing fullback Sammy Crouch in the game.  Buena is averaging 30.6 points per game, fourth best in the CAL. Next: vs Lower Cape May (1-6)

5. Bridgeton Bulldogs (5-3) – Last week No. 5: The Bulldogs showed some poise, having to come-from-behind 22-20 win over Oakcrest.  Markquese Bell caught the game winning 29-yard touchdown pass from David Mosley and had seven catches for 103 yards for Bridgeton. Next: at Middle Twp (2-5)
