New Location announced for National Take Back Day in Ocean City

According to research by the National Center for Biotechnology Information, almost a quarter of all Hospital Visits due to Adverse Drug Events (ADE) is due to Inadequate Patient Education.

Since 2020, there has been a growing issue with people failing to properly dispose of Expired Medications. The US Food and Drug Administration has been working to raise awareness over the last decade to prevent old prescriptions being misused or falling into the wrong hands.

This is why the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has been working with local municipalities to set up drop-off locations for National Take Back Day. Since 2010, communities around the country have been giving people the opportunity to dispose of their expired medications in a legal and ethical way that will prevent anyone being harmed directly or indirectly.

Ocean City Has New Locations For National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

There will be over 4,000 drop-off locations around the United States for Saturday, April 25th the latest Take Back Day. But you will need to bring your expired prescriptions to new locations in Ocean City.\

In a press release from the Ocean City Police Department, there will be two locations for "free and anonymous disposal of unneeded medications":

*Ocean City Public Library Lobby (Entrance at 1735 Simpson Avenue)
*Ocean City Police Department (837 8th Street)

The Old Police Station, located between 8th and 9th Streets on Central Avenue, is being demolished to make way for the construction of a brand new Municipal Building. OCPD have already started working out of the new substation at 8th Street and the Boardwalk.

If you cannot make it to Ocean City for National Take Back Day, you can bring your unneeded and expired medications to these South Jersey drop-off spots:
