The NFL offseason is a cesspool of rumors that infiltrate fan bases all over the league.

With every fan base starving for that franchise quarterback will look at an angle possible to find a way to land that elite guy.

Russell Wilson is one of the few elite players at the sports most important position.  The Philadelphia Eagles current QB, Jalen Hurts, is a solid quarterback with room to grow, but he is not Russell Wilson.

Wilson is one of the best players at the position since being drafted in the third-round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He is a player that the Eagles brass has always had their eye on, since Settle took him with pick 75.  The Eagles ended up taking Nick Foles with pick 88.

"In 2012, we had a vision. We had a vision that we would draft a quarterback who's been extremely successful, and I don't want tampering charges on me, but I think we can understand who that was," Roseman said in an interview with John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Well the rumors of adding Wilson won't go away and website PFF.com thinks that a trade could happen. The connection is obvious, with the Eagles infatuation with Wilson at the 2012 draft. They own three first-round picks to help coerce Seattle and questions about their current starter, who has room to grow, but isn't the caliber of Wilson at this stage of his career.

In an article titled 15 trades to watch out for in the 2022 NFL offseason, writer Brad Spielberger, lists Wilson to Philadelphia as one of the trades to watch this offseason with these terms:

  • Terms: Eagles send 2022 1st, 2023 1st, 2022 3rd
  • Seahawks dead money: $26M
  • Eagles inherited contract: Two years, $51M

The Eagles try to follow the Los Angeles Rams’ precedent here with a similar value trade for Russell Wilson, who is the same age as Matthew Stafford and has a similar remaining contract as Stafford did last offseason. The issue with trying to reconcile the Stafford-for-Jared Goff trade value is: How was Goff valued in the deal?

The deal has the Eagles sending just one of their three first-rounders to Seattle with a first next season, along with a third this year.

If you can make this deal without sending multiple picks this season to Seattle, that is something that would be worth exploring.

On thing to keep in mind?  There is a strong possibility that Wilson is not traded.  Veteran NFL reporter John Clayton was a guest of The Sports Bash and told me he does not see Wilson moving this offseason.

"It's the most ridiculous story I've covered in 50 years of covering the NFL," Clayton told me.

So Eagles fans, don't get your hopes up.

South Jersey Bars You Miss Most

By far Maloney's in Margate is a bar most people in South Jersey miss, but there are so many other bars we miss too.
