Philadelphia Flyers: NHL Draft Day 2 Preview
Friday night saw the Flyers open the 2025 NHL Draft with two selections, making one trade up to get back to 12th overall. While that trade did feature the 22nd and 31st overall selections, the Flyers retained the three second-round picks they have in the draft and the remaining four picks they have on Day 2.
As Day 2 prepares to begin, the Flyers will certainly have some solid options on the board.
The Flyers currently have seven picks as Day 2 begins:
The Flyers will certainly be active early with three of the first 16 picks in the second round. They also have their own third-round pick, which will come four picks into the round.
After that, it’s just a pair of fifth-round picks and a sixth-round pick to close out the day.
So what’s the plan for Day 2? These picks are usually a combination of positional need and best player available. The Flyers selected two forwards in Friday’s first round, so you can expect that defense and goaltending could become part of the picture on Day 2.
Trades also remain a possibility on Day 2, especially with three second-round picks so close together. It’s not out of the question that the Flyers try to move up by pairing two of those picks together or trade back and get more picks for the rest of the draft.
Here are some Day 2 targets as things begin:
