The Phillies are looking to fix their bullpen this offseason and have already begun trying to find some diamonds in the rough, claiming left-handed reliever Ryan Sherriff off waivers from Tampa Bay on Friday.

Sherriff, 31, was not a major part of the Rays pen, struggling with a 5.52 ERA in 16 relief appearances before being sent to Triple-A, but the Phillies have knocked on the Rays door for bullpen help before, adding Jose Alvarado from the Rays in a three-team trade.

Sherriff will compete for a spot in the Phillies bullpen when they head to Spring Training in February.

For his career, Sherriff has a respectable 3.65 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 44.1 innings pitched across four major league seasons with Tampa and St. Louis.
