Philadelphia Phillies Sign Saves Leader Craig Kimbrel to 1-Year Deal
The Philadelphia Phillies have signed free agent right-handed reliever Craig Kimbrel according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
The deal is for one year at $10 million for Kimbrel, who spent the 2022 season with the Los Angels Dodgers.
In 63 appearances,the right-hander posted a 3.75 ERA,1.32 WHIP with 72 strikeouts in 60 innings and 22 saves for the Dodgers.
This signing marks the Phillies’ second bullpen acquisition this winter after adding lefty Matt Straham early this offseason.
Kimbreal is the active save leader, with 394 career saves in 709 games.
He joins Seranthony Dominguez, Jose Alvarado and Connor Brogdon in the back end of the Phillies bullpen.
He lost the Dodgers closing job in 2022 and was left of the teams National League Division Series roster.
