Covey, who has pitched on one big league game this season for the Dodgers and had a 4.22 ERA and a 28 strikeouts in 32 innings as a starter in Triple-A.

Covey was designated for assignment earlier this week by the Dodgers and claimed by the Phillies and will likely step into the starting role vacated by Bailey Falter, who was sent to Triple-A on Tuesday.
