Phillies Adding This Sponsor Patch To Uniforms For Rest Of 2024 Season
The Philadelphia Phillies are one of the oldest franchises in Major League Baseball. First established in 1883, Baseball in the City of Brotherly Love is one of the oldest traditions in professional sports.
Even though the Phillies were the first Professional Sports Franchise to lose 10,000 games, the organization has given their fans plenty of winning memories over the last 50 years. Winning the World Series twice (1980 and 2008) along with reaching the Fall Classic four more times (1983, 1993, 2009, 2022).
Now according to a report by the Sports Business Journal, the Phillies will become the 22nd MLB Team to add a sponsorship patch to their uniforms.
What Sponsor Will be Added To The Phillies Uniforms
Beginning with Wednesday's Phillies-Yankees game at Citizens Bank Park, the 12:35 pm scheduled First Pitch will feature the first day of Phillies' uniforms with a sponsor on the uniform.
Independence Blue Cross has been a Phillies' sponsor for 36 years and now they will have their IBX logo on the team's uniforms. This is the second Philadelphia Sports Team that Independence Blue Cross has their logo on the uniform, with the Flyers uniform debuting the IBX logo last season.
According to Sports Business Journal, fans can add the IBX patch to Jerseys sold at the Phillies Team Store at Citizens Bank Park as well on Wednesday as part of the IBX debut on Phillies' uniforms.
I'm good with the Phillies adding the IBX logo because there are worse patches they could have put on their uniforms. This patch is simple and because the Phillies do wear blue in their color schemes, it will not look out of place.
Unlike the IBX logo on the Flyers Jerseys, which looks awkward and out of place. The Flyers' colors are Black and Orange, which makes the blue IBX logo look like it doesn't belong on their Hockey Sweaters.
I am sure this Independence Blue Cross uniform sponsorship will be a valuable cash flow for a Phillies' organization. The Phillies still have eight years left on Bryce Harper's $300 Million deal. Here is what the Phillies superstar bought with his millions:
