The Philadelphia Phillies squandered yet another lead last night, at home, against the hated New York Mets. Two glaring issues reared their ugly heads again: an offense that just disappears late in games, and a bullpen that can't protect a lead.

There are a few bright spots in this otherwise dreary 2012 season. Placido Polanco appears to be getting back to form and Hunter Pence is getting hot. But neither seems to be doing much in the way of adding Ws.

The Philadelphia Daily News' Phillies Beat Writer David Murphy took a real good look at the bullpen problems. It's an excellent read, but sadly it's only half of the Phillies' issue. A handful of times in the past three games the Phillies have had baserunners on with no outs, late in games, yet failed to score.
