Phillies send Millville’s Buddy Kennedy back to Lehigh Valley
The Philadelphia Eagles reinstated infielder Edmundo Sosa from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday after about 10 days with back spasms.
To make room for him on the 28-man roster, infielder Buddy Kennedy, a Millville High alum, was optioned to Lehigh Valley.
Kennedy has some memorable moments during his seven games with Philadelphia, including the crowd at Citizens Bank Park chanting BUD-BY, BUD-DY, BUD-DY for his plate appearances. He appeared in seven game, getting two hits, both that resulted in RBIs.
Sosa returns to the team after hitting a .264/.319/.437 slash with seven home runs and 30 RBI in 83 games this season. He has been playing all over the diamond for the team this season, appearing at shortstop (46 games, 38 starts), third base (21 games, 11 starts) and second base (17 games, 14 starts).
Walker returns to the rotation
With the Phillies needing a fifth starter on Thursday at Citi Field, the team will turn back to Taijuan Walker. Walker threw three scoreless innings against the Mets on Saturday.
In eight innings out of the bullpen, Walker has given up four earned runs and struck out two in three appearances.
