Phillies Three Back In NL East With 3 Games To Go Before MLB All Star Break

The Philadelphia Phillies won two out of three in their series against the Cincinnati Reds and head to Detroit to face the Tigers to finish their long road trip before the MLB All-Star Break. Aaron Nola gets the ball for the Phillies Friday Night in Detroit.

The Phillies remain three games behind the Atlanta Braves for first place in the National League East. Thursday night, Phillies pitcher Jesus Luzardo continued to pitch great on the road; Luzardo went seven innings, only surrendering two hits, zero runs, while striking out 11 and walking two.  On the road this season, Luzardo has 11 starts going 6-0 with a 1.32 ERA, which is 2nd lowest in Major league baseball. Luzardo was named as a replacement for the All-Star game.

The Flyers received bad news Thursday as the Anaheim Ducks matched the offer sheet that they gave to Ducks center Leo Carlsson. Carlsson would have been just what the Flyers needed to continue their assent in the NHL rankings. 

Finally, the South Jersey Lifeguard races start Friday night, and The Locker Room will be there covering all the action. I will be in Longport for the Michael McGrath Memorial Lifeguard races at 6:30pm, and my correspondent Erich Wolf will be covering the Cape May County Lifeguard Championships at 6:15pm in Wildwood Crest on Rambler Road.  We will talk about it all this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim. 

On Saturday’s show, Producer Nick Earnshaw will join me in the studio as we recap the Phillies series against the Reds and focus on the Detroit Tigers.  In Hour One, we will talk with NHL free agent Colin Felix, who resides in Ocean City.  Colin Felix is running a hockey camp in August, and he will tell us all about that plus his NHL career. 

In Hour Two, it’s our Beach Patrol report with Jack Brooks brought to you by McCann Realtors of Sea Isle and the OC Beach Patrol Lifeguard Alumni Association.  This week we will play our interviews with some of the winners from both the Michael McGrath and Cape May County Lifeguard races. Plus Flyers and Sixers talk will cap off the show

Egrie from Ventnor, who just graduated from Holy Cross High School. C.J. is an outfielder who holds numerous records at Holy Cross , and he will be waiting by the phone during this weekend's MLB draft.
