Philly Sports Fans will keep Cheering For Our Teams
Last Saturday the Phillies were 61 -56 and tied for first place in the National League East; I was super excited to be talking about baseball on August 14th. Our Phillies were playing meaningful baseball in the middle of August! But then the Phils dropped two of their three games in the series against the Reds and then headed west to face the worst team in the National League, the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Phillies were swept by Arizona as their bats went silent and find themselves now four games behind the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. The Phillies continue their west coast trip starting a three game set against the San Diego Padres Friday Night. I’m not giving up on the Phillies and I still believe my Phils can make a run to win the NL East.
The Philadelphia Eagles looked good in their first preseason game against the Steelers but looked terrible against the New England Patriots. Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts was a late scratch for the game due to what is being reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter as a Stomach Infection and it seemed like the team wasn’t ready for prime time in front of their fans at Lincoln Financial Field. It's only the second preseason game so the Eagles still have time to work out the kinks and get their first team units prepared for the regular season.
I WILL keep cheering for my teams and believe they are headed in the right direction. This weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim we will look at the positives after a bad week for our teams!
On Saturday’s show, Scott McKay and I will dissect what our teams need to do to get back to their winning ways. We have a special guest on Saturday morning who knows a thing or two about cheering: Former Eagles Cheerleader Julie Judge will visit with us to talk about what it takes to be an Eagles Cheerleader and her experiences on the 2001 squad.
On Sunday’s show, Pete Thompson joins me in the studio as we recap all the weekend's action. Hopefully the Phillies get back on the winning track. Pete and I will hear from the Radio voice of the Philadelphia Eagles Radio Network, Merrill Reese. Merrill will tell it like it is and give his thoughts on the Birds first two games with new head coach Nick Sirianni at the helm. Of course you can hear Merrill all season long on your home for Eagles Football in South Jersey, 97.3 FM ESPN South Jersey!
All that and more in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to noon on 97.3 ESPN Radio.
Plus don’t forget to join me Saturday night from 6-9pm at All Campus on the boardwalk in Ocean City for the Rant Booth.
