Sue Repetti juggled the responsibilities of being a mother and a high school hoops coach throughout her tenure with Mainland Regional’s girls basketball program. On Friday, March 23, Repetti decided it was time to hang up the whistle and focus on her children.

During a meeting with Mainland athletic director Mike Gatley, she stepped down as head coach of the Mustangs. Repetti, a 1991 Mainland graduate, has spent 11 seasons as a member of the program in some capacity, including the last five as head coach.

“It was a very difficult decision for me,” said Repetti, who accepted the head coaching job in 2007. “I’ve been part of this program for so long as both a player and coach so it was hard to figure out if I was making the right choice.”

In the end, Repetti’s need to spend more time with her seven and eight-year-old sons outweighed her desire to remain on the sidelines.
