Report: Carolina Panthers Request Permission to Interview Shane Steichen
The Carolina Panthers fired Matt Rhule after a 1-4 start and now turn their attention on replacing him.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the Panthers requested permission to interview Shane Steichen currently the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator.
The Panthers are the third team to request permission to speak to the Eagles playcaller, joining a pair of AFC South foes, the Colts and Texas.
The Eagles are one of the top offenses in football with Steichen at the control, finishing third in the regular season in points per game (28.1) and second in yards per game (389.1).
Steichen has worked with Jalen Hurts, helping him become a MVP candidate in his second full season as a starter. Hurts made a huge jump from 2021 to 2022, and was a huge reason for the Eagles 14-3 season.
Expect Steichen to have more suitors as the Eagles have a bye this week, so interested teams will likely continue to try and talk to him while the Eagles are off this week.
