Report: Eagles to interview Ron Rivera for DC Role
On Sunday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni relieved former defensive coordinator Sean Desai of his duties.
Now he is starting to interview candidates to replace him.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles will interview former Commanders and Panthers head coach Ron Rivera for the vacant position.
Rivera spent time in Philadelphia from 1999-2003 on Andy Reid's staff as the linebackers coach. He has been a defensive coordinator with the Chargers and Bears before getting a head coaching job in Carolina.
Rivera spent the 2020-2023 seasons as the head coach in Washington.
Overall as a head coach Rivera is 102–103–2 (.498) and 3-5 in the playoffs.
Others names that have been connected to the Eagles so far include former Giants DC Wink Martindale and former Falcons DC Ryan Nielsen per Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
Matt Patricia, who called the Eagles defense the final five games of the season has also left the organization.
