It is well documented that the Phillies are on the prowl, looking to add help before Friday's MLB trade deadline.

One option to help fix the teams bullpen woes would be to add a closer and one name to keep an eye on is Pirates ninth inning man Richard Rodriguez.

Rodriguez has been outstanding for the Pirates this season with a 2.82 ERA and 14 saves in 37 relief appearances for Pittsburgh.

The question would be, is he an elite closer who will be able to nail down games in the late innings, something the team has struggled to do over the past few seasons.

He would certainly be an upgrade over the teams current options,  but he is certainly an unproven commodity, with 14 of his 19 career saves coming this season for a bad Pirates team.

Other options could be Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel, adding offensive upgrades or even more back-end of the rotation starting pitching.

Whatever way Dave Dombrowski and Sam Fuld choose to go, it appears the team will be buying at the deadline.
