The shuffling of the Eagles’ coaching staff continued on Thursday, with Adam Schefter reporting the team has hired former Detroit Lions head coach and New England defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia as senior defensive assistant.

The team has quite a few new coaches this season, but the biggest name might be Patricia, a longtime Patriots assistant who was the team’s defensive coordinator from 2012 to 2017. According to Schefter, Patricia will join Philadelphi’s coaching staff as senior defensive assistant. Patricia is just 48 years old and spent last season as the Patriots offensive play caller.

Some of the other key hires include, Kevin Patullo getting promoted to associate head coach and DK McDonald being named the secondary coach for new defensive coordinator Sean Desai's defense.

Patricia went 13-29-1 as the Lions head coach before he was fired during the 2020 season.
