New Jersey State Senator Jeff Van Drew joined Matt Segal Tuesday afternoon, to discuss the possibility of sports betting in New Jersey. On Monday, Republican Gov. Chris Christie's administration issued a directive allowing the state's casinos and racetracks to offer sports betting, a move that came as bit of a surprise. Not for Senator Jeff Van Drew, who has been a very proactive supporter of the initiative to implement sports betting in the state of New Jersey.

The motion to welcome sports betting into the Garden State, will certainly be met by resistance. The NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and NCAA are opposed to New Jersey's efforts to legalize sports betting, saying it could give the appearance that the integrity of the games have been compromised.

Senator Jeff Van Drew expanded on those that might be hesitant to legalize sports betting, as well as discussed the time table, next steps, and how sports betting could help save Atlantic City, when he joined the Warm Up earlier today.
