Sixers and Flyers Prepare For Important Draft while Phillies Host The Mets
The Sixers and Flyers are gearing up for the NBA and NHL Drafts. Both teams have picks in the top ten, and both teams need to select players who can make an immediate impact, but Philadelphia Sports Fans know better than to get their hopes too high.
The Sixers, who missed the playoffs last season, have the third overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft. The Flyers, who have only made the playoffs three times in the past 10 years, own 11 picks in this year’s NHL draft and three in the first round. Both teams need to make a splash this offseason to show they fans the organizations are serious about turning things around.
The Sixers are reportedly interest in a few players in this year's draft class, one of them is Rutgers Guard Ace Bailey, who recently canceled a scheduled workout and dinner with the team. The Flyers seem to be focused on acquiring a center, but with 11 picks in the draft, there could be a lot of movement on how aggressive the Flyers will become on draft day.
The Phillies welcome the New York Mets to Citizens Bank Park this weekend with the National League East division lead on the line. The Mets, losers of their last six games, find themselves tied with the Phillies for first place in the NL East. This is a big series for the Harper-less Phillies. Friday night, the Phillies send Zack Wheeler to the mound; The 35 year old Ace has a 7-2 record this season with a 2.76 ERA, Phillies needs a Wheeler-esk performance to start the weekend off on the right foot.
