Sources: Eagles safety Sydney Brown has torn ACL
When the Philadelphia Eagles head to Tampa for their Super Wild Card round matchup with the Buccaneers, they may need to continue without rookie safety Sydney Brown.
Brown, a third-round pick, injured his knee during Sunday’s Week 18 loss win to the Giants, and according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, it is feared he has a ACL tear.
From Garafolo's Twitter account, he will undergo testing to confirm on Monday.
Losing Brown is a big loss for an Eagles defense that lacks playmakers and creating turnovers. Brown brought back a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown on New Year's Eve against the Cardinals.
The injury occurred during the first quarter when Brown was covering a punt.
Tristin McCollum replaced Brownm for the remainder of the game and recorded six tackles in the game.
The Eagles drafted Brown in the third round and he has seen his playing time increase as the season has progressed.
